An Obituary Worth Reading

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook and I thought I would share it since it sadly applies to the world today.

An Obituary printed in the London Times - Interesting and sadly rather true.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Being Sick

My body decided to all of a sudden try to shut down on me Wednesday last week which resulted in me being sick until Monday. I decided to rest and try and get better...maybe not all the time but I tried. So incidentally I slept quite a bit over the weekend so my body would be able to kick this stuff out. I finally this morning (Tuesday) felt good enough to do something. Well as it would go I feel pretty good and my body decided that since I have been sleeping most of the time that I should be tired at 6:30 p.m. I decided that I wouldn't give in so I could sleep during the night. I figured that if I watched a movie with James that might help so we get halfway through the movie and I'm ready to just close my eyes and not wake till morning.

Well I then decided to do something about being tired, I headed to the gym to go swimming. I get there around 7:00 and realize that this is not the time to be going swimming. Not only are the 3 little kid pools full but they are having swim lessons in the lap pool and the part that isn't being used for lessons also has people swimming in it. So I head back home since I'm not dressed to do anything else at the gym. I get home just as the movie is ending. I wait an hour and ask James if he would like to go swimming with me since I figure swimming lessons are over and most of the children would be gone since at 8:00 they would probably be at home getting ready for bed. We head off to the gym and as I predicted the pool is pretty much empty. So we do some laps and spend about 10 minutes in the hot tub relaxing. I guess that must be the trick to waking me up because now that it's 12:15 and past time for bed I am not really that tired. If I go and lay down I might be able to get to sleep in a half hour but I don't know if I really want to do that or read more of my book now that I'm not tired. I'll have to post about this book in a day or two after I finish it...It's Titled: Don't Stand too Close to a Naked Man By: Tim Allen. Anyway I think I might head off to bed cause sleep might just come sooner than I think.

Blog Ideas

I have a hard time coming up with stuff to write on here so if anybody has any suggestions they would be welcomed openly. I usually don't have a hard time with the writing part but when it comes to the coming up with the idea part that always seem to elude me. I can ramble on and on if I have a certain topic in mind but if there is no topic in my mind nothing get written. So if you want to give me ideas I can find someway to ramble about it. Sort of like this post... So I'll end here and wait for someone to come up with something...or maybe in the meantime I might find something. But being sick and it being 11:30 kind of impairs the brain.
